Pledges to promote all Valley's economic sectors

Srinagar, Nov 06 (KNS): Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir (CCIK) elected Tariq Rashid Ghani as its President during 14th AGM held today at Hotel Meridian, Rajbagh.

Ghani, who comes with a vast experience in the industrial sector, has pledged to promote Kashmir's economic sectors during his term as a president.

Bashir A. Beigh was elected as Sr. Vice President, Gh. Mohi-ud-din Khan as Jr. Vice President, Haseeb Renzu as Secretary General, Ms. Qaiser Mir as Jt. Secretary General, Showat Hussain as Treasurer and Naseer A. Khan as Chief Coordinator.

Speaking on the occasion, President Ghani said the Kashmir's industrial sector is facing tough times for past many years which needs to be promoted at all platforms.

"I will try my best to take the issues of our members in particular and that of general trade in general with the higher authorities so that all economic sectors receive huge boost," he said.

He said Kashmiri businessmen have been at the receiving end due to various issues and they need immediate revival plans.

"We will make a comprehensive economic revival proposal and present it to the J&K Government and government of India and seek a special Kashmir specific economic package so that businessmen can recover from losses and restart business growth," said Tariq Ghani.

Most of the members of CCIK were present during AGM who also assured full support to the newly elected President.

Chairman of the J&K Hoteliers Club Mushtaq A Chaya who was the chief guest on the occasion said CCIK's role in the economic development of the Valley is paramount. He assured his full support to new President for his new responsibilities. (KNS)
