Despite receiving the full payment and handing over possession of the land, the accused allegedly refused to provide the requisite revenue documents.
Following a preliminary probe, the Economic Offences Wing initiated an investigation which revealed that the accused, posing as land brokers, had sold land that did not belong to them, thereby cheating the complainants and misappropriating the money.
After thorough investigation and corroboration of evidence, a formal chargesheet has been filed before the competent court for judicial determination.
The Crime Branch Kashmir has urged the public to remain cautious while entering into land and property transactions and reaffirmed its commitment to taking strict action against economic offenders.(KNS)
