Srinagar, Oct 07 (KNS): In its reply to the Calling Attention Motion moved by Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, MLA Kulgam regarding delay in rehabilitation of flood victims particularly residing adjacent to river Veshu which suffered huge devastation during September 2014 and incessant rains followed by flood in 2015, the government has said that due to September 2014, huge losses were caused to private and public infrastructure across the state said in a statement to KNS.
In district Kulgam, five villages comprising of 172 families got affected due to floods. The government has further stated that the concerned departments are under instructions to take further necessary steps for safeguarding the flanks of highly turbulent and ferocious Veshu Nallah.
While raising the issue during the supplementary for inclusion of Veshu Nallah in priority sector, The CPI (M) Leader and MLA Kulgam was assured by the Hon’ble Minister for Irrigation and Flood Control for including the treatment of Veshu Nallah in Mega Flood Protection Project. (KNS)
