Buried under snow, Shopian faces road, water crisis: PDP Leader

Shopian, Jan 25:(KNS) Shopian continues to reel under heavy snowfall, with many vital roads, including key link routes, remaining uncleared, leaving residents stranded and facing acute drinking water shortages, senior PDP leader and former MLA Muhammad Yusuf Butt said on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters, Butt, who also serves as Additional General Secretary of the party, said the situation on the ground exposes the gap between official claims of winter preparedness and reality.

“Despite repeated assertions by authorities, people are struggling for basic necessities. Preparedness is not about press releases and slogans, it is about ensuring water, roads, power, and access when people need them most,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The leader urged the government to take immediate action to clear roads, restore essential services, and provide relief to the affected population. He emphasised that tangible measures on the ground are far more important than administrative claims or media statements.

Butt warned that continued delays in restoring essential services could worsen hardships for residents and called for visible, urgent interventions to address the snow-hit areas effectively.(KNS).
