Burglars decamp with jewellery, cash, other valuables in Srinagar

Srinagar, October 26 (KNS): A gang of burglars barged into the house in Lal Bazar area of Srinagar and decamped with jewellery items, cash and other ornaments on Saturday night.

The victim Mumtaz Ahmad Malik, resident of Hamzah Mohalla, Umar Colony A, Lal Bazaar and decamped with jewellery items, cash and other ornaments on Saturday night.

Mumtaz Malik told KNS says that on Saturday night around 11: 00 pm, "a group of buglers jumped from the roadside boundary wall of my house and broke the door and window of the house from the first floor area and looted away cash and gold jewellery from the lockers at home."

He further said that as soon as the family members tried to repulse the attack of the burglary into the house the thieves tried to escape with all the looted valuable items and two of them were instantly captured with the help of locals of the area.

The incident has caused fear and distress among the local residents. “The burglars broke into our house when we were at home and stole valuable items worth lakhs of rupees. My family members, as well as neighbours, are in shock and in a constant state of worry,” he further said.

The residents of the nearby areas have already asked the police for strong action and punishment to the culprits and appealed to the higher civil and police authorities for providing immediate action into the matter and are hopeful that police will nab all the burglars soon to restore safety in the locality.
