Srinagar, Feb 16 (KNS): Former minister and MLA Amirakadal Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday visited Mehjoor Nagar to take stock of ongoing work on alternate bridge (Bailey bridge) parallel to existing bridge there.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Chief Engineer R&B, officers of ERA and R&B, besides officers from Police and other concerned departments accompanied the former minster.
The MLA Amirakadal directed R&B officers to expedite pace of work on the project for convenience of general public. Bukhari said the people are facing immense hardships on account of unavailability of a motorable bridge connecting Mehjoor Nagar with its adjoining areas and asked the officers to try to complete the work on the project before the deadline.
He said that since the old bridge was recently declared unsafe for transport and public movement, installation of a Bailey bridge on the same location will surely mitigate the sufferings of people.
On the occasion the officers of the R&B assured the MLA Amirakadal that work on the bridge will be completed by the end of this month. He said through this Bailey bridge not only the traffic congestion and frequent snarls will be reduced but people and commuters particularly residing in Natipora, Mehjoor Nagar and other adjoining will be benefited to a large extent.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Bukhari asked the officers of R&B and ERA to put in their best efforts to complete both the projects before the scheduled timeframes. “Keeping in view the miseries and sufferings caused to the people on account of these incomplete bridges, the priority of the officers should be to identify themselves with the common masses and work on these projects accordingly,” he observed.
On the sidelines of this visit, Bukhari assured the residents of Mehjoor Nagar that existing healthcare facility in the locality will be upgraded on modern lines. He said that his utmost priorities include the upgradation of healthcare institutions and facilitating state of the art infrastructure in all healthcare institutions of his constituency. (KNS)
