Bandipora, Aug 9: Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari on Sunday urged the government to ensure uninterrupted movement of fruit-laden trucks, calling for a dedicated corridor to facilitate the timely transportation of Kashmir’s horticulture produce to markets.

Bukhari made the remarks while speaking to reporters at Malangam in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, where he participated in the ongoing seven-day annual Urs of Hazrat Syed Ghulam Rasool Shah, popularly known as Nanga Baji Sahib.

Emphasising the need for urgent intervention during the peak horticulture season, Bukhari said the government must treat the smooth transportation of fruit as a priority and ensure that growers do not suffer losses due to traffic disruptions.

“The priority should be to build a corridor for the fruit, so that it can reach there quickly. I think the government of the time should consider this as their primary duty,” he said.

He also stressed the need for effective monitoring by senior authorities, saying that government announcements must translate into visible action on the ground.

“There should be the highest authorities to monitor this.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWhen they say that they have built a corridor, whether the fruit trucks are allowed to pass through it or not, we will have to see. It will not be done through statements; we will have to see it practically,” Bukhari said.

The Apni Party chief cautioned that any prolonged disruption in the movement of fruit-laden vehicles could inflict heavy losses on thousands of families dependent on the horticulture sector, particularly during the harvesting season.

Bukhari also prayed for peace, security and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir and expressed hope that the people would be spared further unforeseen calamities.

“I pray to Allah that we get rid of this year's unforeseen calamities. For the peace and security of Jammu and Kashmir, for the protection of the people, and for the peace of the heart and mind, I pray,” he said.

Meanwhile, the annual Urs of Hazrat Syed Ghulam Rasool Shah is underway at Malangam, with devotees from different parts of Kashmir visiting the revered shrine to offer prayers and seek blessings. (KNS)
