Srinagar, Dec 20 (KNS): Budgam Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested five persons involved in committing burglary of ATMs and other properties worth lakhs.
According to the statement issued to KNS, the police officials said that “During the intervening night of 20/21-10-2016, ATM installed at Business unit of J&K Bank Hardu-Aboora was stolen along-with cash amount Rs. 809100/-.”
The officials said that in this behalf, a case under FIR No. 171/2016 U/S 457,380/RPC was registered in Police Station Magam on the complaint of concerned Branch Manager.
“Accordingly a team under the supervision of SDPO Magam was constituted and during the course of investigation video footage was collected from concerned bank and while analyzing video footage/CDRs, a number of suspects were rounded-up for questioning and ultimately the police was able to zero-in upon 05 (five) suspects identified as Manzoor Ahmad Sofi, son of Gh Nabi Sofi, Yasir Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh Hassan Sheikh, Muzaffer Ahmad Dar @ Puppa, son of Gh Hassan, all residents of Kanihama and Ab Majeed Dar, son of Kasim Dar, resident of Nooripora and Naseer Ahmad Mir, son of Ab Gaffar Mir, resident of Mazhama accused in case FIR Nos. 79/2016 and 171/2016,” the statement reads.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They said that during questioning all the aforesaid accused persons have confessed their guilt and also disclosed the involvement of one more accused person namely Arif Ahmad Mir, son of Gh Mohd Mir, resident of Mazhama who is yet to be arrested.
“Subsequently an amount Rs.503000/- (five lacs and three thousand only) were recovered from their possession and on their instance ATM Iron tools were also recovered,” they said.
Moreover this inter-district gang of burglars has also admitted to have committed burglary of ATM at Soura Srinagar, Vehicle Wagnor at Safa kadal Srinagar, Vehicle TATA Mobile (207) at Palhalan Pattan, Gas cutter at Magam and attempted stealing of ATM at Tangmarg and to this effect case FIR Nos. 51/2016, 63/2016, 267/2016, 79/2016 and 66/2016 stands registered in concerned Police Stations.
“Investigation of case FIR Nos.79/2016 and 171/2016 of Police Station Magam are going on and efforts are in place to affect more recovery/arrests,” the statement reads.
Police said that the some of the stolen items including the vehicle that was stolen at Palhalan Pattan was also recovered.
They said that the other stolen items will be recovered soon. (KNS)
