Srinagar, Dec 15 (KNS): Budgam Police on Thursday claimed that the Principal District and Session Judge Budgam convicted one accused with life imprisonment.
Police in a statement issued to KNS said that the accused identified as Kamal Jeet Singh, son of Aya Singh of Attina Beerwah in case FIR No 113/2002 of Police Station Beerwah under section 376,302/RPC was convicted with life imprisonment.
“The accused was involved in rape and murder of two six year minor girls in the year-2002 for which case was registered by Police Station Beerwah and after investigation the case was challaned on 27-11-2002 in the court of law at Budgam,” the statement reads.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Police officials said that the trial of the case was conducted by Principal District and Session Judge Budgam taking the matter as a heinous one ensured to produce the witnesses before the Court.
“On 10-02-2016, the accused was convicted for the offence under section 376,302/RPC and today on 15-12-2016 the accused was forwarded to Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar with the directions to lodge the accused in the Central Jail Srinagar pending confirmation of the sentence of life imprisonment imposed upon the accused by the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir,” the statement adds.
