Jalandhar, June 21 (KNS): A group of 14 students, recently evacuated from Iran amid the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, found themselves stranded in the sweltering heat on the highway between Jalandhar and Pathankot after their bus broke down multiple times.
The passengers, mostly girls with only one male among them, were reportedly left without proper ventilation or basic amenities. According to the students, the bus suffered three mechanical failures, and despite three separate mechanics inspecting the vehicle, no effective solution was provided.
They further alleged that the driver was repeatedly lying to his supervisor, who was seeking updates in order to dispatch a replacement bus. “We are honestly so disappointed. We are 14 passengers stuck in the middle of nowhere, including all girls and only one guy. The bus has broken down 3 times, and the driver is lying to his supervisor who is trying to help.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelNo ACs or charging ports are working. We were promised sleeper buses but got regular ones. People are sick or will fall sick in this heat,” one of the stranded students told KNS.
The students also raised serious concerns about the false promises made regarding their travel arrangements. While sleeper buses were assured, they were instead given standard buses with no functioning air-conditioning or charging points.
This ordeal has sparked questions about the lack of coordination and care in handling students who have already endured traumatic experiences during evacuation from a conflict zone. The incident underscores the urgent need for accountability and improved transport services to ensure the safety and comfort of such vulnerable passengers. (KNS)
