Srinagar, Jul 04 (KNS): The students of Srinagar British School Monday held anti-polythene drive to aware people about the devastating effects of polythene.
The students assembled at Srinagar’s press enclave and marched towards city centre Lal Chowk while holding a banner displaying ‘say no to polythene’.
The students were also distributing carry bags among general public.
One among the representatives who were accompanying the students told KNS that usage of polythene bags is very high during these days. It is the duty of every Kashmiri to keep our valley neat and clean. “The school administration believes that it is the right time to aware people about the demerits of polythene,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said there seems no respite from polythene which is non-biodegradable. “People throw these bags in the open and in water bodies which pollute water thereby resulted in dreadful diseases,” he said.
The students later said that people in general should stop using polythene bags and should use alternate source to carry items.
“We are carrying and distributing fabric bags among general public, if we spot anyone holding polythene bags, we will provide a fabric bag as alternative to the person,” she said.
The students march later ended after more than one hour. (KNS)
