Brick and tile unit holders thank J&K government as land handover order issued for Pampore factory

Srinagar, Aug 18(KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered the handing over of land to eligible unit holders at the Brick and Tiles Factory, Pampore, paving the way for revival of industrial activity and generation of employment in the area.

The Industries and Commerce Department issued Government Order No. 84-JK(IND) of 2026 on August 17, directing the J&K State Industrial Development Corporation (SICOP) to hand over possession to unit holders who have been allotted land under the J&K Industrial Land Allotment Policy 2021-30 and have deposited the requisite premium.

However, 34 kanals of land will remain reserved for equipment of the J&K Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) until further orders.

The order follows Cabinet Decision No. 85/10/2026 dated August 4 and incorporates conditions flagged by the Finance Department, including finalisation of the asset and liability audit, clearance of outstanding dues, adherence to timelines for establishment of industrial units, transparent allotment and generation of employment opportunities for local youth.

Meanwhile, brick and tile unit holders have expressed gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, Cabinet ministers and officers of the J&K administration for issuing the order.

In a statement, Khalid Subhan Wani, president and core group representative of the brick and tile unit holders, described the decision as a "historic" step towards reviving the industry.

He said the move would help create employment opportunities for hundreds of families across Jammu and Kashmir and contribute to the industrial and economic development of the Union Territory.

The unit holders also assured the government of their commitment to contributing to the industrial growth and development of Jammu and Kashmir.(KNS)
