Srinagar, Jun 01 (KNS): A tourist guide who saved five tourists in the gushing waters of Lidder river in Pahalgam died himself and his body has been retrieved.
Rouf Ahmad Dar, the brave tourist guide successfully saving five tourists including two foreigners lost his own life, reflecting the spirit of Kashmiri hospitality, died while saving the tourists when their boat capsized in gushing water of Lidder Friday.
His body was retrieved near Bhawani bridge from Lidder, officials said.
“The body after completion of Medico legal formalities was handed over to his relatives,” officials said.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Basser Ahmad Khan as per KNS correspondent has announced Rs 2 lakh as an immediate relief in favour of the bereaved family.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The announcement was made soon after the body of the tourist guide was recovered.
Moreover, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Khalid Jehangir on Saturday handed over the cheque of Rs four lakhs to the bereaved family of Rouf Ahmad Dar, a tourist guide who lost his life while saving the life of five tourists in Lidder river in Pahalgam.
According to KNS Correspondent, DC who was accompanied by Tehsildar of the area and others visited the bereaved family at their home in Sallar tehsil of Pahalgam and handed over a cheque of Rs four lakhs to them.
The Governor has also announced Rs five lakhs as financial assistance to the bereaved family. (KNS)
