Srinagar, Dec 01 (KNS): Former chief minister J&K Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday alleged that BJP is going to ensure DDC polls "manipulated" and "rigged".
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter, Mehbooba said "In 2002 BJPs Vajpayee ji promised & ensured free & fair elections in J&K. And in 2020 the very same BJP is going all out to ensure every election here from municipal to DDC is manipulated & rigged".
"PDPs @RoufBhaat has been detained again on the day municipal election is being held in Srinagar. GOI by subverting democracy reminds me of the cycle of rigged elections in the past which is one of the reasons J&K is in turmoil. How long will @ECISVEEP ignore such malpractices?Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel", she said in another tweet.
Pertinently constituents of People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) had alleged Government of barring their activists from carrying out poll campaigns amidst DDC, ULB's and Panchayat elections and allowing free space and adequate security cover to only BJP.
However, State Election Commissioner (SEC) Jammu and Kashmir K K Sharma had clarified that no political party or leader is being stopped from poll campaigning. He was replying to a query over the "illegal detention" of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and had said that "everybody is free to carry election campaign within the set security protocol". (KNS)
