Srinagar, Jul 5 (KNS): The BJP on Sunday demanded the removal of Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Itoo over the alleged approval of a book that it claimed glorifies terrorists, and sought an investigation into the matter.
BJP Jammu and Kashmir spokesperson Danish Bhat alleged that the approval of the publication reflected "dangerous ideological bankruptcy" on the part of the ruling National Conference.
In a post on X, Bhat termed the approval of the book as "nothing short of an assault on the conscience of the nation".
Targeting Itoo, he alleged that the minister had "forfeited every right to remain in public office" and demanded her immediate dismissal.
"There can be no compromise, no justification, and no tolerance for the glorification of terrorists," he said.
He alleged that any attempt to legitimise or romanticise terrorism undermines national security and disrespects the sacrifices of security personnel and victims of terrorism.
The BJP leader's remarks came amid a controversy over the approval of the book, with the opposition accusing the National Conference-led government of failing to adhere to a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism.(KNS).
