Addresses series of block committee meetings in Dooru, Kokernag

Srinagar Dec 13 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Party Vice President Omar Abdullah on Tuesday addressed a series of block committee meetings at Dooru and Kokernag.

Among others Party Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Senior Leader Sakina Itoo, South Zone President Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri, District President Anantnag Altaf Ahmed Wani, Syed Tauqeer Shah, Abdul Majeed Larmi, Zaffar Choudhary, GN Adigami, Feroz Ahmed, DDC Muneera Jehangir Ji, Syed Sabha, Umesh Talashi, Adv. Nishtar Hussain, block presidents were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the meetings Omar said that BJP is running away from elections because of their failure to deliver on the promises they made to people.

Lamenting the discrimination being meted out to the people of Jammu and Kashmir , Omar said that he wasn't able to understand what was in the mind of ruling BJP. “They aren't satisfied with scrapping our identity and our constitutional rights. They want us to reduce to mere numbers. The proposed measure of issuing unique family IDs is a step in that direction. We have the power to stand up against such discrimination. Those among you who are happy with it should stay indoors. But those among you who don't want to reduce themselves to mere numbers should come out and vote in huge numbers. It is your vote that can stop them achieving that end. If we chose to sit in our homes, then no one could save us. It's through vote only that we can protect our individuality from getting destroyed,” he said.

They said that it was NC and other local parties that have halted the march of JK on the path of development. They themselves have been in power for three years now. What is it that they have achieved? I don't see our educated youth holding job orders in their hands. I don't see those promised industries, roads and hospitals. On the contrary, these past three years have only seen the liquidation of the good work done by previous popularly elected governments,” he said.

He said that it's JKNC that was standing up against BJP and that the other A, B, C D, E teams have already given up accepting the decisions of 05 August 2019 as fait accompli. “We will not rest until we protect the land, employment rights of our people. I've time and again said that if NC comes to power PSA has to go lock stock and barrel, we are committed to materialise our pledges,” he added. (KNS)
