Srinagar, Sep 26 (KNS): Zonal Police Headquarters Kashmir on Saturday organised a one-day conference at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to sensitise and activate field officers regarding effective implementation of beat-level policing across the Kashmir Zone.

The conference was chaired by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Sujit Kumar, IPS, and attended by all Range Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs), district Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), SSP PCR Kashmir and other field officers of the Kashmir Zone.

The conference commenced with the inaugural address by IGP Kashmir, who emphasised the importance of an effective, accountable and technology-enabled beat policing system as the foundation of preventive and community-oriented policing.

During the deliberations, Range DIGs discussed the current status of beat policing and challenges in its implementation, with particular focus on beat structuring, crime mapping, identification of vulnerable locations, preventive measures, surveillance and coordination.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The officers also stressed the need for standardisation of core beat duties, clearly defined roles and responsibilities of Beat Officers and strict adherence to prescribed protocols.

District SSPs and other participating officers deliberated on digitisation of Beat Books through structured data and innovative technologies.

They also discussed the utilisation of CCTV cameras, police databases and other digital tools to enhance monitoring and promote intelligence-led policing at the beat level.

The conference concluded with an emphasis on reviving and effectively implementing beat-level policing while strengthening community engagement.

The participating officers pledged to further strengthen beat-level policing through effective field-level implementation and greater engagement with the community. (KNS)
