BJP holds mega public convention in Nowhatta

Srinagar, April 05 (KNS) : In what is being described as a first-of-its-kind political event in the heart of downtown Srinagar, Bharatiya Janata Party held a mega workers' convention in Nowhatta, organised by BJP leader Mohammad Yaseen Choodisaaz and attended by scores of local residents who formally joined the party ranks.

The convention, which drew hundreds of participants from the downtown area, was graced by BJP District President Srinagar, Adv. Sheikh Salman, who welcomed the new entrants and addressed the gathering at length.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Salman asserted that BJP's commitment to the welfare of the people of Kashmir remains unwavering, pointing to what he described as a fundamental transformation in the security landscape of the Valley, particularly in its downtown core.

"This is a ground transformation where BJP has ensured peace prevails and people live comfortably without becoming victims of strikes, stone pelting and pellets. This is the biggest gift BJP has given to the people of Kashmir," he said, adding that parents no longer fear for the safety of their children, businesses are prospering and labourers are finding dignified livelihoods for their families.

Pushing back against critics who question the party's presence in a predominantly Muslim-majority region, he said the charge was untenable given the ground reality.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"How could our opposers dub us as against the Muslims? This is a paradox and a smear campaign launched to keep people aways from BJP," he said.

Sheikh Salman also congratulated Mohammad Yaseen for the magnitude of the gathering and underlined it as a testament to the BJP's growing popularity in an area long considered beyond the party's reach.

Mohammad Yaseen, in his address, thanked BJP leadership and the hundreds who turned out to make the convention a success. He spoke of his personal journey witnessing the hardships of ordinary people in downtown Srinagar as the driving force behind his decision to formally align with the party.

"I have seen the struggle of the common man from downtown and this has been my conscious decision to join BJP as it remains the only party which is serving the people devoid of seeking power," he said.

He aded "And I promise that to the last of my breath I shall be with you, listening to your woes and remaining at the forefront to get them resolved."

Yaseen also congratulated the scores of local residents who enrolled in the party at the event and reaffirmed that the BJP would continue to deepen its presence on the ground across downtown Srinagar.(KNS)
