Says people robbed of their rights. Hike on LPG, electricity, rising unemployment leads to restlessness

Anantnag May 9 (KNS): BJP Govt is drawing sadistic pleasure out of a deliberate burden put on poor people on account of unprecedented price hike especially on LPG, electricity besides downsizing supply of ration besides withdrawing other privileges from BPL, AAY and other poor section of the people thereby making their survival more difficult.

The labour class and other job card holders whose earnings used to generate from local area developmental works have also been rendered jobless due to the tendering process of the works sanctioned and executed at block level aiming to directly benefit the contractors and other concerned agencies.

Former J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President and AICC observer Ghulam Ahmad Mir made these comments during his tour of Panchayat halqas Dongwari, Manzmov, Tangloo, Check Wangund, Dalwach, Shistergam, Hiller Shahabad, Chango, Sadiwara A&B, poolia, Hangpora, Ringmando, Kapran, Hergawass and Yakedbaru in Dooru Segment of South Kashmir.

Ghulam Ahmad Mir met scores of peoples’ delegations including Sarpanchs, Panchs, labour class and other  rural job card holders in these Panchayat Halaqas and received feedback with regard to the ground situation and the living condition of poor people.

During interactions with the delegations Mir said people are robbed of their rights including democratic, besides the tall claims by BJP Govt are contrary to truth leading to the disappointment and restlessness and expressed serious concern over the pathetic condition of poor people who are confronted with hardships on account of purchase of LPG, downsizing of ration quota, electric bills and other subsequent developmental issues concerning them including rising joblessness.

Ghulam Ahmad Mir blamed BJP Govt over drawing sadistic pleasure out of the burden put on common people and expressed serious concern over downsizing supply of ration.

During UPA regime 11 Kgs of  Ration were supplied to BPL & AAY category/person, but the BJP Govt downsized the supply to  mere 5 Kgs/person, which is not sufficient, ultimately consumers  have to buy ration  from market to feed themselves that too on higher rates, which is not affordable, same is the case with electricity bills. Earlier consumers (BPL and AAY) category used to pay Rs.350 PM, now they are forced to pay 950 PM coupled with erratic supply of electricity, which is not only unfortunate but questionable, Mir rued and added that  APL ration quota have also been abolished with the result middle class family are forced to purchase ration from the market on higher rates and termed such measures a move to withdraw privileges which the J&K people used to enjoy earlier.

Matter of the fact remains that the economic burden created by providing free ration to poor class  during Covid period is now being recovered under the garb of  price hike  especially through hike on LPG, electricity, downsizing of ration quota, besides price hike on edible oils and other essential items inorder to recover the losses, which is questionable leading to the  discontent and disenchantment among the people,  Former JKPCC President said.
Mir urged both Centre and JK Govt to restore 11 Kgs supply of ration/person to people, besides ration must be restored to APL Category and also demanded that electricity fee of Rs.350 as per recent past be recovered from the consumers PM as that only will ensure respite to people from the economic burden.

Former JKPCC President also urged the Govt to abolish tendering system in terms of developmental works at block level to ensure that labour class and job card holders are able to earn their livelihood with dignity. The tendering system has also proved a setback to allocation of funds, for the fact, the funds allotted for developmental works remain unutilized leading to the loss to developmental process at grass roots.

AICC Observer also  addressed various workers meeting during his tour and urged the Party cadres to gear up for the upcoming challenges as the BJP is hell bent upon to create confusion  and wedge in the society aiming to gain political mileage, but the Congress Party and people of J&K  are fully prepared to deal with such challenges and defeat the designs of BJP.(KNS)
