Srinagar, Mar 09 (KNS): Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), which is pioneer in women’s empowerment through its many initiatives Thursday, celebrated the International Women’s Day in Kashmir Valley in a small but impressive function at Company’s Petrol Pump in Sonwar.
According to a statement issued to KNS, the officials in the BPCL said that a petrol pump namely Srinagar Garage, which has an in and out store being managed by the females also had employed the female fuel attendants, which was a unique initiative in valley and a step towards women empowerment at par with many other petrol pumps outside the state. The Petrol Pump was decorated by the balloons and various art works of the international women’s day. On the occasion women customers were seen greeted by the Petrol Pump staff by presenting them pleasantries.
Nayeema Mahjoor, Chairperson of State Commission for Women in J&K, who have been instrumental in developing women empowerment in the State honored these women for having done a commendable job by presenting mementoes to them in the presence of customers and officials of the corporation.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
She also praised the company for taking steps to do such activities.
BPCL’s Territory Manager Rajesh Sharma, while speaking on the occasion stated that this day of International women’s day on 8thMarch is being celebrated all over the country and unlike the previous years, such programmes which used to be conducted in Jammu is being celebrated in Kashmir this time. He further stated that such initiatives on women empowerment shall be a regular affair in the J&K State and company has plans to develop one day time “All women Petrol Pump” in Jammu shortly.
Others present on the occasion were J.P Meena and Vishal Chopra apart from Rizwan Ahmad Dar, local Sales Officer in Kashmir. (KNS)
