Srinagar, Oct 25 (KNS): A day after the National Conference (NC) won three of the four Rajya Sabha seats from Jammu and Kashmir, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured one, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday said that his party was deceived in the final phase of polling.
“In the final phase, we were deceived in some places. Everyone now knows the names of those who betrayed us. I do not find it necessary to repeat that here,” Abdullah said while addressing media in Srinagar.
He thanked the Congress and other colleagues who voted in favour of the National Conference. “It is regrettable that we were betrayed in the final phase, but I am satisfied that not a single National Conference vote was wasted. Every voter showed their vote to the chief agent, and not one NC vote was lost,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Abdullah said it was a concern that some of those who supported the BJP had stayed with the NC till the end. “They stayed with us, attended our meetings, ate with us, and then went and mingled with the BJP. It would have been better if they had openly said they wanted to support the BJP, like our MLA from Handwara did,” he said.
Referring to the Handwara MLA, Abdullah said he made his position clear and chose to boycott the election rather than vote against the BJP. “That is understandable. But those who secretly helped the BJP should not be praised. They should have openly said they voted for the BJP or spoiled their vote to benefit the BJP,” he said.(KNS).
