Srinagar, Jan 05 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) General Secretary Mir Abdul Qayoom has expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic death of five family members of Tanghdar in Bemina, Srinagar.
Terming the incident gravely tragic, Mir said that such deaths could have been avoided had the successive governments upgraded health infrastructure in remote areas of the state.
He said that all the former ruling regimes are expressing 'shock' over the tragedy, but it is lamentable that their governments always ignored such areas in health infrastructure development.
He said that the Bemina tragedy is a wake up call for the Governor led administration to focus on upgrading and providing modern health facilities to the rural and remote areas of the state.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He urged the government to airlift the bodies of the family members to their residence and provide compensation to the next of the kin of the family.
Police today said that five members of a family, including two children, died due to asphyxiation.
It said the family had come to Srinagar a few days ago for treatment of their mother in SKIMS Hospital, Bemina, and had rented a room for temporary accommodation near the hospital. (KNS)
