Srinagar, May 6(KNS): Bilaliya Educational Institute organised a cross country run under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, with officials saying the event aimed to promote a drug-free and healthy society.
A total of 345 students participated in the run, which organisers said was intended to encourage youth towards sports and constructive activities.
SSP Traffic Srinagar Aijaz Ahmad flagged off the event and said collective efforts are needed to steer young people away from substance abuse.
Medical Officer PHC Zadibal Dr Mudassir Nabi attended as the guest of honour and urged students to adopt healthy lifestyles.
Chairman of the institute, Manzoor Wangnoo, said the initiative reflects the role of educational institutions in promoting awareness and discipline among youth.

Organisers said the programme received support from parents and the administration, and acknowledged the role of the medical team and Jammu and Kashmir Police in ensuring smooth conduct of the event.
They also credited the institute’s sports team and faculty members, including Tajamul Ahad, Suhail Nisar, Adil Raheem and Javaid Ahmad, for organising the run.
Principal Nisar Ahmad and coordinator Adil Mirza were also acknowledged for overseeing the event.
The organisers said such initiatives are important in promoting awareness and building a healthy and responsible society.(KNS).
