BDC Langate, President jk Zamidnar Forum appeals Div Com. Kashmir for early starting up of lift irrigation pumps


Handwara 11 July (KNS): BDC Chairman Langate Showket Pandith and President JK Zamindar Forum Malik Hamid, on Saturday appealed divisional commissioner Kashmir for early starting of lift irrigation system in the area and ensure 24 hour power supply.
In a joint statement issued to KNS they said draught caused due to the dry spell in the areas of Zaloora Tujar, Sagipora, Harwan, Maidan Chogal, Kulangam, Wahipora, Unisoo, Ujro, Haripora and Pohrupeth. The irrigation of paddy crop and other vegetables in the area is wholly dependent on irrigation system. Due to less rains in the season farmers are faced a lot of difficulties at hand of dry season. Less rainfall in Kashmir region has made it difficult for paddy farmers as they do not have much water to irrigate their crop. Paddy farmers are Suffering because of water crises. The statement further staed that administration must ensure that 24 hours power supply to the lift irrigation Pump houses so that the farmers from Wahipora, Langate, Uniso, Ujro. Pohrupeth , Hanjishart,Guloora,Kohru,Yaroo,Waipora, (Bagh Chatkak) get benefited.
This area is mostly dependent on agriculture and Horticulture, They cautioned that if Lift Irrigation Pumps are not Started at earliest all all crops will be damaged and farmers will die of starvation. Divisional commissioner must direct concerned authorities to come to the rescue of farmers of the areas at an earliest. (KNS)
