BCCI Walkout Over Asia Cup Trophy Row

Srinagar, Oct 1 (KNS): The Asia Cup title may belong to India, but the champions are still without their trophy and medals after a fresh showdown inside the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

During Tuesday’s online meeting, BCCI’s Ashish Shelar walked out midway in protest, accusing ACC chairman and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi of giving no clarity on when the silverware will reach India. Shelar later rejoined, but the deadlock remained.

Indian representatives Shelar and Rajeev Shukla pressed Naqvi hard, demanding that the trophy and medals be sent to the ACC office in Dubai, from where India could collect them. No assurance came.

The row began on Sunday night in Dubai when Indian players refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi’s hands after their Asia Cup final win.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelCaptain Suryakumar Yadav later revealed that the team waited for nearly an hour outside the dressing room only to see the trophy taken away. “They ran away with the trophy,” he told media.

Tensions deepened further on Tuesday when Naqvi, in his opening remarks, congratulated Mongolia and Nepal but skipped India’s triumph until Shelar insisted on it.

With no resolution, the trophy battle is now set to continue. The BCCI has warned it will escalate the matter to the ICC if the stalemate persists.
