A road erosion on Tuesday evening has left a stretch on Baramulla-Uri road at Khanpora near Sheel Putri Mandir badly damaged and locals have appealed authorities to immediately reconstruct the path as any delay can render the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road closed.
The highway has been closed for traffic as it will take some time to reconstruct the road, said an official, adding that a huge crater is to be filled to make the road motorable.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Locals said that many electric poles and a police CCTV tower were also damaged due to road erosion.
A Tata vehicle 407 plying on the road at that time of erosion also skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge. However, the driver of the vehicle was rescued by the locals. Meanwhile, beacon is constructing an alternate road.
