Baramulla, Mar 31 (KNS) : Continuing its crackdown on illegal mining, police in Baramulla district have seized two vehicles, including a dumper, during separate operations in the Dargam Nallah area, officials said on Tuesday.
Acting on specific inputs, a joint team from Baramulla Police and the Geology and Mining Department intercepted a dumper bearing registration number JK05K-3116. The vehicle, driven by Umar Hassan Bhat, a resident of Sheeri Narwaw, was found involved in unlawful extraction of minerals, they said.
In another action during routine patrolling at Dargam, a tractor (engine number 303702) driven by Anzer Hameed Wani of Bangdara was also seized for similar violations.

Both vehicles have been taken into custody and cases have been registered under the relevant provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, the officials added.
Police reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining and protect the region’s natural resources, warning that strict legal action will be taken against violators. (KNS)
