Baramulla, January 22 (KNS): Baramulla Police arrested two individuals and recovered a substantial quantity of charas, marking a significant breakthrough in an ongoing narcotics investigation.
The action stems from the investigation into FIR No. 02/2026 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act, registered at Kreeri Police Station.
During the course of the investigation, police apprehended one accused, identified as Farooq Ahmad Chopan (alias Beta), from Kalantra Bala. Following his arrest, Chopan provided a disclosure statement that led investigators to the Durhama area.
Acting on this information and under the authorization of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Kreeri, a team from Police Post Wagoora conducted a search operation at Durhama.
Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe search targeted the premises of Bilal Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat and resident of Durhama. During the operation, police recovered approximately 774 grams of a powder-like substance suspected to be charas.
Consequently, both accused persons have been formally arrested in connection with the case. They face charges under sections 8/20-29 of the NDPS Act. Police officials confirmed that further investigation into the matter is actively underway.
