Baramulla Police Arrests Two Drug Peddlers, Seizes Narcotics in Tangmarg

 Baramulla, Feb 08 (KNS) :  Baramulla Police on Sunday claimed to have apprehended two alleged narcotics peddlers and seized a substance resembling brown sugar during an anti-drug operation in the Tangmarg area.

 
In a statement issued to News Agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), police said 
Acting on a specific strategy to dismantle the narcotics network, a police team from Police Station Tangmarg established a special checkpoint.
 
police said that during the checking, two individuals upon spotting the police party tried to flee the scene but were tactfully chased and overpowered by the alert police personnel.
 
The arrested individuals have been identified as Owais Ahmad Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Treran, and Shoib Ahmad Khoker, son of Ashraf Khoker, resident of Check Treran.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
During a personal search, approximately 08 grams of a contraband substance suspected to be brown sugar was recovered from their possession, police stated.
 
A case under FIR No. 03/2026 under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Tangmarg. Further investigation into the case is ongoing to uncover possible links and supply chains.
 
Senior police officials reiterated that Baramulla Police is unwavering in its mission to eradicate the scourge of drugs from society and will continue to take the strictest possible action against those involved in drug trafficking.
