Baramulla 11 June (KNS): About 15 houses were gutted in a devastating fire rendering more than 35 families shelterless at Noorbagh Sheikh Colony in North kashmir's Baramulla District.

 

An official told Kashmir News Service that there was no loss of life in this incident however 15 houses gutted and more than 30 families rendered homeless and the loss is being assessed by the revenue officers who are on the spot.

 

Police official told KNS that gas leakage in cylinder was a reason behind this massive fire tragedy due to which more than a dozen houses went into flames in no time and massive damage was done by the time fire tenders reached the spot.

 

Meanwhile an official told Kashmir News Service that some hostels have been identified to shift these families there till tommorow , however final call regarding their establishment may be taken tommorow by District adminstration Baramulla, he said adding that the revenue officials are on spot and the loss is being assessed.

 

Notably, the fire spread fast and engulfed a large number of houses.The locals tried to control the fire but number of houses were reduced to ashes by the time fire tenders reached the spot.

 

The fire caused panic among the locals who tried to stop the fire from spreading into more houses. 

 

 Many officials including SSP Baramulla reached the spot along with rescue teams. Fire tenders were rushed from other areas as well and it took more than three hours to bring the fire under control.(KNS)
