 Jammu, Jan 28 (KNS) : The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has reported significant strides in the implementation of key Central government social security schemes, with official data for the first three quarters of 2025-26 showing a major uptick in enrolment across districts.

According to official figures accessed by news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), the drive led by district administrations in collaboration with banking partners has resulted in substantial expansion of welfare coverage under various flagship schemes.
 
Key highlights of the progress including Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), over 1.26 lakh new zero-balance accounts were opened, taking the total in J&K close to 25 lakh. Jammu, Samba and Reasi districts led this financial inclusion effort.
 
For Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), which offers accidental insurance cover for ?20 per annum, over 5.42 lakh new enrolments were recorded. Pulwama, Samba and Jammu districts topped the list.

The Atal Pension Yojana (APY), which guarantees pension after 60, added nearly 40,582 new subscribers, with Jammu district registering the highest enrolment.
 
A notable digital shift was observed under Jeevan Praman, where digital life certificate submissions by pensioners rose sharply from 4,000 to over 1.11 lakh, with Rajouri district at the forefront of this campaign.
 
The Chief Minister’s Office commended the role of Deputy Commissioners and banking correspondents in driving on-ground implementation. The top three districts in each scheme have been given certificates of appreciation.
 
The data reflects the administration’s push to ensure effective last-mile delivery of Central schemes, strengthening social security for citizens across the Union Territory. (KNS)
