Kupwara, Oct 16 (KNS): Demanding immediate transfer of DC Kupwara, members of the Kupwara Bar Association who are on strike from past three days Friday held strong protest demonstrations here.
The lawyers allege that the District Development Commissioner humiliated a relative of lawyer associated with Kupwara Bar Association and got him arrested. However, DC Kupwara told KNS that the allegations leveled by the bar Association were wrong. He added that said person (relative of a lawyer) along with many other people had come to his office in connection with some work and wanted him (DC) to give them out of turn favours without following any procedure.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“I simply asked them to follow procedure. But they were not ready to listen and instead tried to manhandle me. So I lodged an FIR against them and police took action,” he said.
SP Kupwara Aijaz Ahmad Bhat confirmed to KNS that an FIR was lodged against the person who tried to manhandle DC Kupwara.
Meanwhile, Teachers Forum Kupwara Friday extended their support to the agitation launched by members of Bar Association against the district magistrate. (KNS)
