Bangladesh to Decide Next Steps After Informing ICC on Probe Report

Dhaka, April 6: Bangladesh will take its next course of action after informing the International Cricket Council about the investigation report on cricket board elections, Youth and Sports State Minister Aminul Haque said on Sunday.

The minister made the statement after holding an inter-ministerial meeting following the submission of the report by a five-member probe committee. The committee has recommended guidelines to ensure free and fair elections.

“Today morning the committee submitted its report, and I immediately called an inter-ministerial meeting to discuss the matter,” Aminul said.

He added that the government would first formally inform the ICC about the findings before taking any further decision. However, he did not specify when the report would be made public, saying that the next steps would depend on due process and international protocol.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Meanwhile, former sports state adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain responded to the issue after the probe committee stated that he did not appear before them.

In a social media post, Asif said he had questioned whether the committee had the authority to investigate a matter that is under judicial consideration and involves an autonomous body.

“I did not receive a satisfactory response, and I will not be part of any process that I believe is irregular,” he said.

Aminul confirmed that Asif did not cooperate with the investigation and that his absence has been recorded in the report.

“The report has been submitted, and since he did not participate, that has been clearly mentioned,” the minister said.
