Bandipora’s Literary Voice Reaches National Stage: A.R. Matahanji Conferred with Prestigious Youth Award

Srinagar, March 29(KNS): In a moment of immense pride for Jammu & Kashmir, Bandipora’s noted writer Mohammad Altaf Matahanji, popularly known as A.R. Matahanji, has been conferred with the Swami Vivekananda Rashtriya Yuva Puraskar 2026, a prestigious national-level award, at a grand function held at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Srinagar.

The award was presented during a national conference themed “Mission Vishwa Guru Bharat”, which brought together eminent scholars, writers, and social contributors from across the country.

The event was organised by the Swami Vivekananda National Peace Spiritual Cultural Centre Bharat in collaboration with Naturo Alternative Medical Science Research Federation Bharat, Zenith Book of World Records, and World Book of Star Records.

The honour was presented by Chief Guest Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board and Minister of State, in the presence of Guest of Honour Padma Shri Dr Vikas Mahatme, former Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), along with other distinguished dignitaries.

A.R. Matahanji’s achievement marks a significant milestone for the Bandipora district. Coming from the Wullar Lake region, his journey reflects perseverance, intellectual depth, and creative brilliance. His writing embodies knowledge, literary refinement, and dignity, transforming lived experiences into powerful literary expression.

Earlier this year, Matahanji also received the International Icon Award 2026, followed by the International Star Award and recognition from other global record platforms, further strengthening his position in contemporary literature.

Currently serving in the Department of Handicrafts and Handloom, Kashmir, Matahanji represents a rare blend of public service and literary excellence. His achievements have brought recognition not only to his department but also to Bandipora and the broader cultural identity of Jammu & Kashmir.

Notably, his journey has garnered widespread media coverage, with over 200 national and regional news platforms featuring his story, transforming a once-quiet voice from the banks of Wullar Lake into a globally recognised literary figure.
