Bandipora, Jan 29 (KNS): The residents of Sonawari Tehsil are up in arms against the authorities for ‘failing to macadamize’ the roads in their area.
Accusing the higher ups for ignoring their plights, the residents here have demanded immediate redressal of their genuine grievances.
Residents told KNS that the road connecting Hajin with Bandipora is in shambles from past several years as according to them government has turned blind eye towards their pleas.
They said the roads in the area have become awful to the commuters in general and locals in particular over the past few years.
The roads in the area including Rakhi-e-Hajin, Paribal, Sadunara , Chak-e-Paribal are in shambles.
They said that roads have developed potholes thereby resulted in the immense hardships to the commuters.
“Sometimes we prefer to walk miles on foot instead of travelling in a bus,” Bashir Ahmad, one among the local residents said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said that in case of medical emergency, the patients face tremendous hardships.
Locals said they approached the authorities including DC Bandipora several times but unfortunately all in vain.
They said that during elections, the successive regimes had promised people that the roads will be macadamized but unfortunately the promised proved hoax on the ground.
Locals threatened of agitation in case the authorities failed to macadamize the road.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Bandipora Sajad Hussain Ganaie said thatthey will start the work on it very soon.
He said that he recently visited the area and took stock of the situation. (KNS)
