Bandipora 14 April (KNS): Bandipora police continuing its war against the menace of drugs, arrested a drug peddler in Nesbal Sumbal and recovered psychotropic substances from his possession. 

 

Acting on a specific information,a police party of Police station Sumbal led by SHO P/S Sumbal INSP. Sajad Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Sumbal Shri Nissar Ahmad -JKPS during naka checking at Nesbal crossing arrested one person along with 14 bottles of Codeine Phosphate. 

The accused has been identified as Mohd Asif Wagay @ Asif Yalgaar S/o GH Rasool Wagay R/o Hilalaabad Nesbal Sumbal. 

 

During preliminary enquiry it was revealed that the accused was a notorious drug peddler and there were  02 CASE FIRs already registered against the accused by Ganderbal police, moreover the accused was selling the drugs to youths of the area at exorbitant rates & make them drug addicts.

Accordingly case FIR No.47/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered in police station Sumbal and further investigation has been taken up.

 

General public of the area have appreciated this swift action of police against the social menaces. 

People are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers and help police in eradicating the menace of drugs.(KNS)
