Bandipora, March 11 (KNS): The 84 kilometre long Bandipora-Gurez road, which remains closed for winter months due to heavy accumulation of snow at Razdan Top, will take more time to re-open after fresh snowfall in the area over the past couple of days.

Deputy commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad told news agency KNS that they were expecting to re-open Bandipora-Gurez road early this year as snow was cleared on the road up to Razdan Top and only 15 km road stretch was remaining to be cleared but due  to continuous snowfall the clearance on the road was again stopped.

He said that it will now take more time to reopen the road and after weather will be clear they will again start snow clearance on the road.

He also said that the road avalanche prone area and safety of passengers was their priority. "Once snow will be cleared on the road and after decision about movement of vehicles on this road will be taken," he said. (KNS)
