Survey will measure level of antibodies against covid: MS DH Bandipora

Bandipora 07 July (KNS): After a gap of ten months, North Kashmir's Bandipora District on Wednesday geared up to conduct its 2nd Phase of Sero-Prevalence.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Medical Superintendent District Hospital Bandipora, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad said that the survey will measure level of antibodies against covid.

The protocol followed for the current round of the survey will be the same as the previous Phase, Mushtaq said adding that just over more than 100 samples were collected on day 1st including front-line health workers, pregnant ladies and some random participants.

Giving a general overview of the survey, Mushtaq said that the Survey is meant to check the level of antibodies.

It is not necessary that  sample can be collected only from a patient having history of Covid positive, Mushtaq said adding that  participants for the survey can be selected at random and not depending on whether they have been vaccinated. 

However, participants can be ask naturally for their history of vaccination,he said.

Notably, the first phase of sero-surveillance, for which the data was collected between May and June 2020 in Bandipora, found that 39% of Bandipora residents had antibodies against Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, the then deputy CMO Dr Masrat Iqbal said.(KNS)
