‎Srinagar, Sep 28 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Monday passed a resolution moved by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah seeking restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir amid continued protests and an uproar by BJP legislators.

‎The resolution was passed as BJP members continued their protest in the House, raising objections during the proceedings.
‎
‎The BJP legislators opposed the resolution and disrupted the proceedings as the government moved ahead with the vote.
‎
‎The resolution seeks the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and calls for the process to be undertaken at the earliest.
‎

‎The resolution was moved by Omar Abdullah during the ongoing autumn session of the Assembly.

‎The BJP has objected to references in the resolution to earlier Assembly resolutions, including the 2000 autonomy resolution, arguing that the statehood demand should be dealt with separately.

‎The government, however, maintained its position on restoration of statehood, with members of the ruling National Conference backing the resolution.(KNS)
