Azad's resignation from Congress surprising: Tariq Karra

Srinagar, Aug 27 (KNS): Congress Working Committee member Tariq Hameed Karra on Friday said that resignation of

Gulam Nabi Azad from Congress is surprising.
Addressing press conference here at Srinagar, he said that Ghulam Nabi Azad has surprised with his resignation from Congress . "But for me personally, this is not surprising at all," he said.

He said that the things begin to change in Congress for Azad when Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it clear that Azad will not be wasted and he will soon be appointed for a special mission. "Since then, Azad started working independently in Jammu and Kashmir and was questioning the Congress leadership," he said.

Questioning Azad's resignation, he said that "What prompted him to raise questions over Rahul Gandhi in between 2013 to 2018. “If he is an ethically empowered leader, he would have resigned at that time."

He also picked holes in claims made by Ghulam Nabi Azad in his resignation letter on lack of consultative process in the party after 2013.

"BJP has succeeded in the fragmentation process by Gulam Nabi Azad’s resignation, which may be in the shape of a new political party," he said.(KNS)
