Srinagar, Nov 06 (KNS): Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha & Former Chief Minister of J&K, Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed profound sorrow and grief on the passing away of Ved Bhasin – a legendary figure in the profession of journalism.
Offering heartfelt condolences, Azad said “I stand in solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of grief and pray to Almighty to give them courage to bear this irreparable loss”.
Referring to his pioneering contributions in the field of journalism, Azad said he laid the foundation of professional and modern journalism in the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
“Ved Bhasin was a trail blazer and trend-setter in the sphere of journalism in Jammu & Kashmir. He belonged to that creed of journalists who stood for their ideals and convictions, without getting digressed by the charms of materialistic world”, said Azad.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Azad said he was unrelenting in his pursuit of excellence and worked through all difficulties to carry forward his mission.
Describing him an “institution” in his own right, Azad said he was responsible for creation of a generation of professional journalists who are carrying forward the flame of freedom of speech and contributing towards welfare and progress of mankind.
Acknowledging his rich legacy as social activists and a progressive thinker, Azad said that Ved Bhasin was a humanist to the core who strived all along to uphold the values of secularism, pluralism and democracy, notwithstanding the grave provocations and challenges which the State faced from time to time.
Azad said that his passing away has created a void which is not easy to fill.
Azad prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul. (KNS)
