‘His demise is setback to people of Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh’

Srinagar, Nov 03 (KNS): Octogenarian congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of the Jammu & Kashmir state Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma breathed his last today morning at his Jammu residence at 9.30.am. He was ailing for the last some months. Mr. Sharma had deserted Congress and has joined PDP but was isolated and remained oblivion till he breathed his last.
In a statement issued to KNS, on hearing this sad news, Senior congress leader and AICC General Secretary Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad straightaway drove to Mr. Sharma`s residence from Jammu airport to pay condolences and homage.
Azad is scheduled to visit the victims of indiscriminate firing and shelling from across the border in recent days.
Meanwhile, Former Union Minister, Prof. Saifuddin Soz on Thursday expressed his deepest sorrow on the demise of Mangat Ram Sharma, veteran Congress leader and former Dy. CM of the J&K State.
In a statement issued to KNS, he said that Mangat Ram Sharma happened to be a popular political leader in every part of the J&K State.
He said, “Mangat Ram Sharma had a rare quality in his character of being on the side of the workers and he would always try to solve their problems.”
Soz said, “Shri Mangat Ram Shama made very good contribution for the development of the State, especially, he was always eager to raise the issues related to Jammu province and tried to solve them.”

Meanwhile, describing the sad demise of veteran political leaders and former Dy. Chief Minister Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma as a great loss the state of J&K, JKPCC Chief G.A. Mir while expressing deep sorrow and grief termed Mangat Ram Sharma as a leader of masses with great political wisdom, who has served the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladkah to the best of his ability. He was a great visionary and highly respected political leaders in all the three regions.
He said the demise of Mangat Ram Sharma is really a setback not only to people of Jammu, but Kashmir and Ladakh also, who have lost a great political leader and their well wisher in the demise of Mangat Ram Sharma.
Recalling the services rendered by Late. Sharma, PCC Chief said that deceased has served the state in different capacities and was well versed with the geo political scenario of all the three regions. The contributions made by him to the equitable development of the State, shall always be remembered and will continue to inspire the present and coming generations. The demise of Sharma Ji has left a void in the political arena of the state, which can never be filled, Mir said.
He said Pt. Ji was one among the frontline leaders of the Congress Party and has made great contributions towards strengthen the Congress in all the three regions of the State.
PCC Chief has offered heartfelt condolences to bereaved family sympathized with them and prayed for peace to departed soul. (KNS)
