Rally Marks Vigilance Awareness Week 2025

DC Budgam Emphasizes Integrity, Transparency, and Ethical Conduct in Public Life

Budgam, Oct 31 (KNS) : As part of the ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, the District Administration Budgam, in collaboration with the School Education Department Budgam and the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Srinagar, today organized an Awareness Rally in Budgam to promote the message of integrity, transparency, and zero tolerance towards corruption.

The rally, which commenced from Boys Higher Secondary School Budgam and culminated at the Bus Stand Budgam, was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat (IAS).

A large number of students, teachers, faculty members, officers, and civil society representatives participated in the rally with great enthusiasm, carrying placards and banners bearing slogans such as “Say No to Corruption” and “Vigilant Citizens, Prosperous Nation.”

Speaking on the occasion, the DC lauded the collaborative effort between the District Administration, School Education Department, and ACB Srinagar in organizing the rally, terming it an important step in building a culture of honesty, responsibility, and public accountability.

He said that the Vigilance Awareness Week serves as a strong reminder for all citizens, particularly the younger generation, to uphold the principles of honesty and ethical conduct in every sphere of life.

He said that , Corruption not only weakens governance but also erodes public trust and hampers progress.

The DC further stressed that transparency and integrity must become guiding principles in both personal and professional life.

He urged students to act as torchbearers of change, spreading awareness among peers and communities about the importance of ethical behaviour.

He said that our youth must take pride in honesty and accountability.

A vigilant and informed citizenry is the strongest deterrent against corruption,” the DC added.

The DC also appreciated the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s continuous efforts in raising public awareness and promoting integrity in governance. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to extending full support to initiatives aimed at building a transparent and corruption-free society.

At the culmination point near Bus Stand Budgam, a brief post-rally function was held where the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Budgam addressed the gathering and emphasized the role of education in cultivating moral values and ethical awareness among students.

Faculty members from various schools and colleges also shared their insights on the importance of vigilance, honesty, and good governance.

Students from Boys Higher Secondary School Budgam, Girls Higher Secondary School Budgam, Degree College Budgam, NIFT Budgam, and several other institutions actively participated in the rally, showcasing their commitment to promoting ethical values and good governance.

The event concluded with a pledge among the participants to uphold the principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability in both governance and everyday life, reinforcing the message of this year’s Vigilance Awareness Week theme.

Senior officers from the District Administration, officials from ACB Srinagar, education department functionaries, and members of the civil society were also present on the occasion.(KNS)
