Awareness program on ‘Public Service Guarantee Act’ held in Uri

 Srinagar, Apr 30 (KNS) : Action Aid Association in collaboration with Uri Foundation organised a one day awareness cum sensitization program on Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA) 2011 with the elected representatives of village Garkote in border town Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

 

The program was themed- ‘Towards consensus building on PSGA’ with relevant stakeholders.

 

In a statement issued here, the speakers for the program were Advocate Toseal Ahmad and Advocate Naveed Bukhtiyar.

 

Adv Toseal talked in detail about the objective and purpose of the act, services covered by the act and remedies available under law. 

 

Adv Naveed spoke about the procedure and implementation part of the act and also impressed that the strong implementation is only possible when this law is used effectively and officers are held accountable.  

 

The program was hosted by Abrar Bhat, coordinator of Uri Foundation who started with a brief introduction of the organization and work carried out by the NGO in the past. 

 

A vote of thanks was extended by Iqbal Banday, Vice-President of Uri Foundation. He thanked all the participants for attending the program and assured every possible help to the community for training the PRIs and activists to disseminate the knowledge of law among the masses.

 

At the end, a question answer session was held followed by an interaction session where participants shared their concerns and experiences.(KNS)
