Jammu, Jan 31 (KNS): While speaking on the working of health and medical education ministry Dr Veeri castigated government and health department for not appreciating the role played by employees of health department during difficult circumstances of unrest in state. Manzoor Ahmed Sofi an ambulance driver facing 200 pellets & bleeding profusely on 26th August 2016 brought severally injured patient to hospital is a case widely reported in press and an example of supreme courage and bravery. There are hundreds of such instances where Paramedical staff, Nurses and our cream of society, doctors worked at the risk of their life braving bullets & pellets to reach for treatment of injured patients but not a word of appreciation came from Government and present arrogant rulers. They should have been honoured with highest civilian awards on Republic day.
Government awarded those who killed people but not those who saved them at the risk of their lives.
Dr Veeri suggested that these doctors, paramedics & ambulance drivers must be appreciated & awarded for the selfless services they rendered during recent unrest in Kashmir.
While acknowledging efforts of health minister he asked why regional ophthalmic institute sanctioned for Kashmir under NPCB during previous regime has not been pursued for execution which could have played a vital role during unrest in Kashmir? He castigated government for delaying the proposal due to regional bias. "Epidemic of dead eyes" was the lead story in New York Times due to excessive use of pellet guns, which caused heavy loss of eyes in Kashmir. Regional eye institute would have helped in such situations.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWe must also acknowledge and thank Dr Natrajan & his team of doctors from Mumbai who rendered services in difficult times.

PDP has surrendered every bit of conscience to BJP/RSS and are discriminating with Kashmir.
Dr Veeri took strong note of spurious drugs prevalent in the state and subsequent failure of Govt to check & address the issue. He was also referring the 46 sub standard samples & thousands of vails worth Rs 33 lakh withdrawn from GB Panth hospital recently which were found spurious.

He said primary health care needs to be strengthen, secondary level needs to be made accountable so that tertiary level perform properly with extra dimension of conflict orientation.
