Srinagar, Jan 27 (KNS): The divisional administration Kashmir has issued fresh avalanche warning for next 24-hours, in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the statement that there is avalanche warning in higher areas of state and people are advised to keep clearing the snow deposition from roof tops of their houses/ bunkers to avoid damages.
The ‘High Danger Avalanche Warning’ exists for avalanche prone slopes in; Kupwara, Bandipora, Anantnag, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Budgam, Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Riasi, Doda, Kishtwar and Kargil Districts of Jammu & Kashmir.
District administrations have been directed to take all precautionary measures for the safety of public.
Meanwhile the experts have warned that possibility of avalanche will increase with sunshine and can turn dangerous.
Head of the Department for Earth Sciences in Kashmir University, Prof. Shakeel Ramsoo said that, “this year hilly areas have received more snow and with sunshine there is possibility of more avalanches.”
The director Metrological department Kashmir, Sonam Lotus told KNS that there is significant drift in weather pattern and there is possibility that weather will improve from tomorrow till next week.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said this year we saw heavy snow fall after long time. He said, “After 1991 and 2006 such heavy snowfall was witnessed. It is good sign for our environment,” Sonam Lotus aid
He said that there is change in weather trends as we recently witnessed long dry spell and now a long wet season.
He said that after the fresh snow and rainfall people gets respite from the chilling cold, the upcoming days will remains pleasant as the long 40-days of bitter cold Chillai Kalan is coming to end.
The Srinagar-Jammu national highway which connects the valley with rest of country is closed for fourth connective days and traffic officials said that, the road will be open only after condition improves.
The Air services resumed after third days and hundreds of passenger was seen rushing towards Srinagar International Airport. (KNS)
