Avalanche Alert Issued for Six Districts in Jammu and Kashmir


Srinagar, Jan 31 (KNS): The authorities have issued an avalanche warning for several districts in Jammu and Kashmir, urging residents to exercise caution and take necessary precautions.

The alert specifies a low danger level for avalanches in the districts of Doda and Ganderbal. Residents living above elevations of 2800 and 3500 meters are advised to be vigilant and avoid venturing into potentially hazardous areas.

Simultaneously, a medium danger level has been declared for the districts of Poonch, Baramulla, Bandipore, and Kupwara. Areas above 2400 meters are considered at risk, and residents are urged to take immediate precautions.

"Residents in the identified districts are strongly advised to avoid travel or activities in avalanche-prone zones. Safety measures should be prioritized, and any emergencies or concerns can be reported by dialing 112 for prompt assistance," the disaster management said in a statement.(KNS)
