Srinagar, Jul 29 (KNS): Authorities on Friday imposed strict curfew and restrictions across Kashmir to foil the Jamia chalo march called by the separatist leaders including Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq and JKLF chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik.
Witnesses told KNS that a large contingent of police and paramilitary CRPF troopers were deployed in every nook and corner in city here to prevent the people from marching towards Jamia.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“With erecting concertina wires, the forces have sealed all the entry and exit points of old city,” they said.
The separatist leaders have been issuing protest programmes from past three weeks in view of the civilian killings in Kashmir and had appealed people to follow the programmes strictly.
The strike call was Thursday extended up to July 31. (KNS)
