Kupwara, Mar 16 (KNS): With the no toilets in the various SSA schools in Langate area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, the education sector has come under severe criticism with the people alleging it to be a reason of immense hardships.
The locals told KNS correspondent Raja Akbar that the authorities have ignored various SSA schools with paying no heed over the development and other things thereby leaving the school going children to suffer.
“The authorities spent hefty amount on unnecessary things but failed to make toilet available in the school. Our children are facing tremendous hardships due to the negligence of higher ups,” locals said.
“Without going through a proper way, the authorities spent huge amount on unnecessary things under Swach Bharat Mission (SBM),” locals said.
“Some of the schools still don’t have toilets but the authority’s didn’t pay heed over it and utilized amount in those schools which already had two or more toilets thereby leaving the teachers and students to lurch,” they said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Sources told KNS correspondent that the authorities spent almost 21 lakhs for the development of the SSA schools. “It should have been utilized in a proper way. There was no strategy to utilize the amount. The officials who spent the money should be dealt with strictly,” they said.
They said that the authority’s spent money on their own will. “We don’t know why the higher ups act as mute spectators in this regard,” they said.
They told KNS that they appealed higher ups several times in this regard but nothing has been done so far.
Chief Education Officer, Kupwara wile talking to KNS said that he will look into the matter. “Will take strong action against the persons who will be found guilty,” CEO said. (KNS)
