‘Mirwaiz put under house detention, Malik shifted to Central jail’

Srinagar, Mar 13 (KNS): The authorities on Monday imposed restrictions in Basant Bagh and Maisuma areas of Srinagar to foil the proposed protest sit-in of resistance camp and placed scores of senior pro-freedom leaders under house arrest or detained.
According to KNS correspondent, scores of senior pro-freedom leaders including Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, JKLF chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) chief, Aasiya Andrabi, PPP chief, Hilal War and Media advisor of Hurriyat (M), Shahid-ul-Islam were either placed under house detention or were lodged at different police stations.
The Hurriyat (M) chairman and DeM chief and Media advisor of Hurriyat (M) were placed under house detention while JKLF chief and PPP chief were shifted to the Central Jail and Kothibagh police station.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Meanwhile, amid pro-freedom and anti-India sloganeering, the resistance leaders and activists tried to carry out a protest march from Maisuma area.
However, police swung into action and detained scores of the protesting leaders and activists.
Notably, the resistance leaders including Hurriyat (G) chief, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar and Malik had called for sit-in aimed to highlight the plight of prisoners languishing in different jails across the state.
The resistance leaders have been protesting against the ‘deteriorating health conditions of the prisoners’ from past several weeks and have been demanding immediate release of all the prisoners languishing in different jails across the State. (KNS)
